Ashton VSG No. 1 (Belicoso)

The Ashton VSG Belicoso No. 1 delivers one of the most decorated full-bodied blends in the world through a tapered head that concentrates every bit of its flavor. VSG — Virgin Sun Grown — is blended by Carlito Fuente and rolled at the Fuente factory in the Dominican Republic, wearing a dark Ecuador Sumatra sun-grown wrapper cultivated on the slopes of an extinct volcano. The Belicoso format (5¼ × 52) lets you adjust the cut to fine-tune the draw to your taste.

Construction

The sun-grown wrapper is dark, oily, and flawlessly applied to the tapered head. Cold draw brings dark chocolate and earth. Fuente-made construction shows in the even burn, dense ash, and a draw that stays open through the rich final third.

Flavor profile

Full-bodied and luxurious. The first third opens with espresso, black pepper, and dark earth. The middle third develops bittersweet chocolate, leather, and a honeyed sweetness that keeps the strength in check. The final third finishes long and warm with charred cedar and spice. The belicoso head focuses the smoke and intensifies every transition. A 60–75 minute experience.
