Ashton VSG Robusto

The Ashton VSG Robusto is one of the most iconic full-bodied Dominican cigars ever produced — a benchmark blend that consistently ranks among the top premium cigars in the world. Crafted by Ashton Cigars and blended by the legendary Carlos Fuente Jr., the VSG line is known for its rich Ecuadorian sun-grown wrapper and deep, complex flavor profile.

This is not a mild or introductory cigar. The VSG Robusto is built for experienced smokers who want intensity, structure, and long, evolving flavor transitions in a compact format. It delivers a powerful smoking experience while maintaining the smooth refinement that defines top-tier Dominican craftsmanship.

Construction

The Ashton VSG Robusto features a dark, oily Ecuadorian Sun Grown wrapper with a firm, evenly packed body and flawless construction. The cigar feels solid in hand with minimal soft spots. Pre-light draw brings bold notes of black pepper, cedar, and dark earth. Once lit, the burn is steady and controlled, producing dense smoke output and a firm ash that holds well throughout the session. The draw is slightly firm at first, then opens into a rich, full smoke delivery.

Flavor profile

Full-bodied and deeply layered. The first third opens with black pepper, espresso, and rich earth. The middle third develops dark cocoa, roasted nuts, and leather, with a subtle natural sweetness that balances the strength. The final third intensifies into espresso, charred oak, and lingering spice, with a long, peppery finish on the retrohale. Strength builds steadily but remains refined rather than harsh.

Smoke time averages 60 to 75 minutes, making it a concentrated but highly complex smoking experience.

This is a flagship Dominican powerhouse cigar — ideal for seasoned smokers who appreciate bold flavor, impeccable construction, and long-lasting complexity.

A Note on Availability

Ashton VSG cigars are produced in limited quantities and are frequently in high demand due to their consistent ratings and reputation. Robusto sizes tend to sell quickly when available.

Pairing Recommendation

Pairs exceptionally well with barrel-proof bourbon, aged rum, or a full-bodied single malt Scotch. The cigar’s espresso, cocoa, and spice notes complement oak, vanilla, caramel, and charred barrel flavors. Also excellent with strong espresso for a non-alcohol pairing.
