Ashton VSG Torpedo

The Ashton VSG Torpedo is the tapered flagship format of one of the most decorated full-bodied lines in the world — Virgin Sun Grown, blended by Carlito Fuente and rolled at the Fuente factory in the Dominican Republic. At 6½ × 55, its dark Ecuador Sumatra sun-grown wrapper (grown on the slopes of an extinct volcano) gets the longest runway in the VSG lineup.

Construction

The oily, espresso-dark wrapper is applied flawlessly to the tapered head. Cold draw brings dark chocolate and earth. Fuente-made through and through: even burn, dense ash, and a draw you can tune with your cut.

Flavor profile

Full-bodied and commanding. The first third opens with espresso, black pepper, and dark earth, focused by the torpedo head. The long middle develops bittersweet chocolate, leather, and the honeyed sweetness that keeps VSG balanced at full power. The final third burns warm and long with charred cedar and spice. An 80–95 minute experience.

Pairings & occasion

The big-night cigar. Pair with peated Scotch (Ardbeg 10, Lagavulin 16), barrel-proof bourbon (Booker's), vintage port, or espresso. VSG never loses the pairing arms race.
