My Father Le Bijou 1922 Toro
The My Father Le Bijou 1922 Toro comes from one of the most decorated lines in modern cigar history — the Le Bijou 1922 Torpedo was named Cigar Aficionado's #1 Cigar of the Year in 2015, and the Toro delivers that same blend in a classic 6 × 52 format. Created by José "Pepin" Garcia as a tribute to his father ("Le Bijou" means "the jewel"), it's an all-Nicaraguan blend crowned with a dark, oily Habano Oscuro wrapper grown on the Garcia family's own farms.
Construction
The Oscuro wrapper is thick, toothy, and nearly black, with an invisible seam. Cold draw pulls dark chocolate and raisin. My Father's construction standards are among the best in Nicaragua — expect a straight burn line, solid ash, and a draw with just the right resistance.
Flavor profile
Full-bodied and full-strength — this is a cigar for experienced palates. The first third hits with black pepper, espresso, and dark earth. The middle third settles into dark chocolate, charred oak, and a developing sweetness that balances the power. The final third brings leather and bold spice to a long finish. The retrohale is peppery and intense. A 75–90 minute smoke best enjoyed on a full stomach.
Pairings & occasion
Strictly an evening, after-dinner cigar. Pair with a cask-strength bourbon (Booker's, Stagg Jr.), a spicy rye (Rittenhouse), or a double espresso. Skip lighter pairings — they'll disappear under this blend.
