My Father La Opulencia Robusto

The My Father La Opulencia Robusto is the Garcia family's deep-and-dark blend — a 5¼ × 52 robusto built around a Mexican San Andrés Oscuro wrapper over all-Nicaraguan binder and filler. Where Flor de las Antillas charms with balance and Le Bijou flexes with power, La Opulencia ("opulence") aims for richness: thick, dark, dessert-leaning flavor with the full-bodied backbone My Father is known for.

Construction

The San Andrés wrapper is dark, toothy, and oily with a soft box-press. Cold draw brings dark chocolate and espresso bean. Estelí-standard construction: even burn, firm ash, and a draw that stays open as the blend thickens in the final third.

Flavor profile

Full-bodied and indulgent. The first third opens with cocoa, espresso, and a peppery edge. The middle third develops the wrapper's signature sweetness — dark chocolate, raisin, baking spice — over roasted earth. The final third finishes long on bittersweet chocolate and leather. A 50–65 minute smoke that drinks like dessert.

Pairings & occasion

After dinner, ideally with something sweet in the glass. Pair with a dessert bourbon (Maker's 46), an añejo rum (Diplomatico Reserva), a tawny port, or a mocha. If you love San Andrés maduros, this belongs in your rotation.
