My Father Cigars La Lealtad Robusto

The My Father La Lealtad Robusto is one of the most quietly impressive cigars in the My Father portfolio. "La Lealtad" means "loyalty" in Spanish — a tribute from Jaime García to the customers who have stayed with the My Father brand since the family launched it in 2008. The Robusto, at 5 × 50, is the size most fans of this line return to: a 60-to-75-minute smoke that delivers the full character of the blend without overstaying its welcome.

This cigar is hand-rolled at the My Father factory in Estelí, Nicaragua — Don Pepín García's operation, widely regarded as one of the finest premium cigar factories in the world. The wrapper is a beautiful Ecuadorian Habano Sun-grown Rosado leaf — its distinctive reddish-brown color and slightly oily finish set this cigar apart visually before it's even lit. Underneath, the binder and filler are aged Nicaraguan tobacco from the country's premier growing regions.

Construction

Don Pepín's factory is famous for impeccable rolling, and La Lealtad showcases that consistency. The pre-light cold draw is open without being loose. Cold notes pull cedar, leather, and a soft sweet earth. Once lit, the burn line stays sharp from light to nub, and the ash holds in solid 1.5-inch segments.

Flavor profile

Medium to medium-full bodied, complex, well-balanced. The first third opens with cedar, a defined black pepper, and a developing dark chocolate sweetness. The middle third broadens — leather, espresso, and a touch of nutmeg come forward, with the chocolate deepening into bittersweet cocoa. The final third settles into a rich coffee-and-cream finish, with the cedar gaining structure and a subtle floral note appearing on the retrohale.

The flavor evolution is what makes this cigar special — every transition feels intentional, and nothing falls flat. This is the kind of complexity you'd expect from a much more expensive cigar.
