My Father La Lealtad Toro
The My Father La Lealtad Toro takes the same celebrated Lealtad blend and gives it the time to fully unfold. At 6 × 52, this is a 90-to-110-minute smoke — the format that lets the most complex transitions in this blend really develop and breathe. "La Lealtad" means "loyalty" in Spanish, named in tribute by Jaime García to the customers who've stuck with the My Father brand since launch.
This cigar is hand-rolled at the My Father factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. The wrapper is the same striking Ecuadorian Habano Sun-grown Rosado leaf the Robusto uses — distinctive reddish-brown color, slightly oily, instantly recognizable. The binder and filler are aged Nicaraguan tobacco from the country's most respected growing regions.
Construction
Don Pepín García's rolling operation is one of the most consistent in the cigar industry, and the Toro format showcases that reliability across a longer burn. Pre-light cold notes pull cedar, leather, and a hint of cocoa. Once lit, the burn line stays sharp throughout the entire smoke, the ash holds in solid 1.5-to-2-inch segments, and the draw never tightens.
Flavor profile
Medium to medium-full bodied. The first third opens with cedar, a defined black pepper, and a developing dark chocolate sweetness. The middle third — where the Toro format really pays off — broadens significantly: leather, espresso, nutmeg, and a touch of dried fruit come forward in slow succession, each note holding for several draws before the next emerges. The final third settles into a rich coffee-and-cream finish, with the cedar deepening and a subtle floral character appearing on the retrohale.
The Toro is where La Lealtad reveals just how thoughtfully blended it is. Every transition has space; nothing feels rushed or compressed. If you've smoked the Robusto in this line and loved it, the Toro is the format that gives the blend room to fully tell its story.
Pairings & occasion
This is an evening or weekend afternoon cigar — the longer smoke time deserves a thoughtful pairing. Try a quality bourbon (Eagle Rare, Maker's Mark 46), a single-malt Scotch (Highland Park 12, Talisker 10), an aged rum, or a strong espresso. The medium-full body and longer burn time can hold its own against bigger pairings without losing the blend's nuance.
