The Oliva Serie V Melanio Robusto Maduro takes the most decorated blend in the Oliva portfolio — the line behind the 2014 Cigar of the Year — and wraps its robusto in lush San Andrés Maduro. 5 × 52, box-pressed, rolled in Nicaragua from long-aged fillers.

Construction

The Mexican wrapper is dark and even over the line's signature gentle box-press. Cold draw brings dark chocolate and coffee. Melanio construction is elite, and the Maduro doesn't blink.

Flavor profile

Medium-full and plush. Dark cocoa, espresso, and soft pepper open; the middle develops dark caramel, raisin, and toasted bread; the close is bittersweet chocolate and oak. The Melanio polish, one shade darker. 50–65 minutes.

Pairings & occasion

A special-evening robusto. Pair with sherried Scotch (Macallan 12), a dessert bourbon (Maker's 46), or espresso.
