Padron 1926 No. 6 Natural
The Padron 1926 No. 6 sits in the upper tier of the Padron 1926 Anniversary line — the same family that has held its ground on every major cigar publication's "best of" list for two decades. The Padron 1926 No. 9 Maduro was Cigar Aficionado's #1 cigar of 2004, and the entire 1926 line continues to score in the 92+ range across vitolas and wrappers. The Natural variant of the No. 6 — what you're looking at here — uses a sun-grown Nicaraguan habano wrapper that's been fermented less aggressively than its Maduro counterpart, giving you a more refined, woody profile while keeping the structural depth that makes a 1926 a 1926.
This is a 5½ × 50 box-pressed robusto, hand-rolled at the Padron factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, using long-filler tobacco aged a minimum of five years. The box-press is firm and precisely squared.
Construction
If you've smoked any cigar from the 1926 line before, you know what to expect — and this one delivers exactly that. The pre-light draw pulls cedar and a touch of cocoa. The burn line stays sharp without re-lights, the ash holds in inch-plus segments, and the draw never tightens. This is the kind of construction that justifies the price.
Flavor profile
Medium-full bodied — slightly less aggressive than the Maduro versions of the 1926 line, but more nuanced. The first third opens with cedar, almond, and a quiet pepper. The middle third broadens — sweet cream and toasted nuts come forward, with a developing note of espresso and warm bread. The final third settles into a creamy coffee finish, with the cedar and pepper gaining definition. The retrohale carries a clean, slightly sweet character throughout.
This is a 60–75 minute smoke if you take your time. The Natural rewards patience — pull too fast and you'll get heat without flavor; let it burn slow and the transitions emerge.
Pairings & occasion
This is a weekend afternoon cigar, or an after-dinner smoke if you want something refined rather than over-the-top. Pair with a quality bourbon (Eagle Rare 10, Woodford Reserve), aged rum, or a strong coffee. Skip the heavy peated Scotch — save that for the Maduro version.
