Padron 1926 Series No.2 Maduro

The Padron 1926 Serie No. 2 Maduro packs the line's celebrated dark-wrapper richness into a 5½ × 52 box-pressed belicoso — the format serious Padron fans often call the sweet spot of the 1926 Serie. The tapered head concentrates the smoke; the Maduro wrapper, fermented longer and hotter, supplies the chocolate-and-molasses depth the line is famous for. Rolled in Estelí from Nicaraguan tobaccos aged a minimum of five years.

Construction

A near-black, oily wrapper over a firm box-press, finished in a precisely rolled taper. Cold draw brings dark chocolate and raisin. Burn line stays sharp, ash stacks dense, and the belicoso head lets you dial the draw exactly where you want it.

Flavor profile

Full-bodied and lush. The first third opens with dark cocoa, espresso, and black pepper — amplified by the taper. The middle third sweetens into molasses, roasted nuts, and dark-roast coffee. The final third lands on bittersweet chocolate and leather with a long, warm finish and a sweet, toasty retrohale. A 60–75 minute smoke.

Pairings & occasion

After dinner, with the good bottle. Pair with peated Scotch (Lagavulin 16), a barrel-proof bourbon (Booker's), vintage port, or espresso — the Maduro's sweetness holds its own against all of them.
