Padron Family Reserve No. 46 Maduro

The Padron Family Reserve No. 46 Maduro is a 5½ × 56 box-pressed robusto extra released in 2010 to mark the Padrón family's 46th year in business. A Nicaraguan puro rolled from the family's long-aged reserve tobaccos under a dark, oily maduro wrapper, it's one of the richest expressions of the Family Reserve series.

Construction

A firm, even press and a dark wrapper with a soft sheen. The cold draw brings wood, hay, and leather. Expect Padrón's hallmark performance: a slow, even burn, a solid ash, and an easy draw.

Flavor profile

Full-bodied, lush, and creamy. Cocoa, coffee, and rich earth open with a creamy sweetness on the palate; roasted nuts and mellow wood join through the middle; the finish deepens into dark coffee and leather. A 60–75 minute smoke.

Pairings & occasion

After dinner, with time to spare. Pair with an aged rum, a wheated bourbon, a tawny port, or a mocha.
