The Padron Family Reserve No. 85 Natural is a 5¼ × 50 box-pressed robusto released in 2011 to honor the 85th birthday of José Orlando Padrón, who founded the company in 1964. An all-Nicaraguan puro of tobaccos aged ten years under a sun-grown natural wrapper, it was rated 94 and named the No. 4 Cigar of the Year by Cigar Aficionado in 2012.

Construction

A neat, firm press and a smooth natural wrapper. The burn is slow and even, the draw effortless, and the ash holds firm — Padrón construction at its finest.

Flavor profile

Full-bodied, earthy, and complex. Cedar and earth open with herbal hints; cocoa, coffee, and a dark black-cherry sweetness unfold through the middle; the finish is long, savory, and gently spiced. A 60–75 minute smoke.
