My Father Flor De Las Antillas Toro Gordo

The My Father Flor de las Antillas Toro Gordo is the big-ring expression of Cigar Aficionado's 2012 Cigar of the Year line — a 6½ × 56 format that gives the blend's celebrated balance a wider, cooler stage. Handcrafted at the Garcia family's Estelí factory with a golden Nicaraguan sun-grown wrapper over all-Nicaraguan binder and filler.

Construction

A soft box-press with a silky sun-grown wrapper, cleanly rolled at a size where many factories get sloppy. Cold draw brings sweet hay and cocoa. Slow, even burn with a bright, firm ash.

Flavor profile

Medium to full-bodied, rounder than its smaller siblings. The first third opens with cocoa, nutmeg, and a soft white pepper. The middle third sweetens into toffee, toasted bread, and earth, the big ring keeping everything cool and creamy. The final third adds cinnamon warmth and a cedar finish. A 75–90 minute smoke.

Pairings & occasion
