Nub Cameroon 460

The Nub Cameroon 460 is the cigar that put the Nub line on the map and it's still one of the most distinctive smokes in the Oliva catalog. Created by Sam Leccia and produced by Oliva, the Nub concept is built around a simple insight: most cigars only really hit their flavor stride in the middle third the "sweet spot." So why not make a cigar that's all sweet spot? At 4 × 60, the Nub Cameroon delivers that concentrated middle-of-the-cigar experience from the first puff to the last.

This is the Cameroon-wrapped variant, which uses one of the world's rarest and most prized wrappers. Cameroon tobacco, grown in West Africa, has a slightly toothy texture and contributes a distinctive sweet-woody character that you simply can't replicate with Connecticut or Habano leaf. Underneath, the binder and filler are aged Nicaraguan tobacco from Oliva's own farms.

Construction

The 4 × 60 format is a difficult cigar to roll well short cigars with a wide ring gauge need precise draw calibration to avoid burning too hot. Oliva nails it. The pre-light cold draw is calibrated open without being loose. Cold notes pull sweet wood, cedar, and a hint of cocoa. Once lit, the burn stays even and the ash holds in solid segments.

Flavor profile

Medium-bodied, distinctively flavor-forward thanks to the Cameroon wrapper. The first third opens with sweet wood, cedar, and a quiet pepper — that classic Cameroon profile right out of the gate. The middle third broadens into roasted almond, light cocoa, and a creamy backbone. The final third deepens — the sweet wood lingers, a coffee finish develops, and a subtle pepper builds on the retrohale without ever turning harsh.

Smoke time is roughly 45 to 60 minutes. The Nub format makes this an efficient cigar — you get the full flavor evolution of a longer smoke, in a third less time.

Pairings & occasion

This is a versatile cigar — the medium body and Cameroon sweetness pair with almost anything. Try it with a bourbon (Buffalo Trace, Maker's Mark), a single-malt Scotch, an espresso, or even a craft beer (an amber ale works particularly well with Cameroon wrappers).
