The Nub Connecticut 460 is the mildest expression of the Nub philosophy — that 4 × 60 short-fat format, but wrapped in a smooth, golden Connecticut Shade leaf instead of the bolder Cameroon. The result is a refined, breakfast-friendly cigar that delivers concentrated flavor in a 45-to-60-minute smoke without the intensity of darker wrappers.

Connecticut Shade is grown under cheesecloth tents (the "shade" in the name) which produces a paler, milder, more delicate leaf than sun-grown wrappers. Underneath, the binder and filler are aged Nicaraguan tobacco from Oliva's farms — substantial enough to give the cigar real flavor, mild enough to keep the Connecticut profile intact.

Construction

The 4 × 60 format requires precise rolling — a short cigar with a wide ring gauge needs perfect draw calibration to avoid burning hot. Oliva nails this consistently. Pre-light cold notes pull cedar, cream, and a touch of hay. The burn line stays even, the ash holds in solid segments, and the draw stays open from the first puff to the nub.

Flavor profile

Mild bodied, full-flavored. The first third opens with cream, sweet cedar, and a quiet almond — that classic Connecticut Shade character. The middle third broadens into toasted bread, a subtle vanilla, and a creamy coffee finish that lingers between draws. The final third deepens slightly — the cedar gains structure, a soft nutty sweetness develops, and a quiet pepper appears on the retrohale without ever turning aggressive.
